Privacy Policy
This page describes precisely what the Dictalia app (iOS and macOS) and the dictalia.pro website do with your data — and, more importantly, what they don't do.
01Publisher
Dictalia is published by David Markowicz, an independent developer. He is the only person who designs, builds, and operates the app and the website — there's no team, no dedicated data department, and no third party involved in running the service beyond what's listed below.

02The principle
Two optional features, which you turn on yourself, do send data off the device: iCloud sync (to your own Apple account) and Claude-generated summaries (to Anthropic). Both are detailed below.
03Data processed
Here is, feature by feature, what data exists and where it goes.

Dictalia contains no usage analytics, audience measurement, or advertising tools. No browsing or usage data is collected for statistical or commercial purposes.
04Purposes and legal basis
Each processing described above exists only to carry out the service you explicitly request by using the corresponding feature: recording a meeting, transcribing it, summarizing it, syncing it across your devices. There is no secondary purpose (no profiling, no reselling, no training a model on your content on our part).
The legal basis is therefore the performance of the service requested by the user (GDPR article 6.1.b) for the app's features, and legitimate interest in being able to reply to you for the website's contact form (article 6.1.f).
05Recipients
Three parties may receive some or all of your data, only in the cases described above:
- Apple — hosts your private iCloud database (meeting text, summaries, and audio if you sync it) and provides the Apple Intelligence model used for local summaries.
- Anthropic — only if you enable the "Claude" summary engine: receives the transcript's text to generate the summary, under its own privacy policy (anthropic.com/legal/privacy).
- Microsoft — only if you use the "Join a Teams meeting" feature (macOS): handles the Teams call itself, as for any participant.
We have no other partner, analytics provider, ad network, or data reseller. No one else receives your meetings.
06Transfers outside the European Union
If you use Claude-generated summaries, the text sent to Anthropic (a US company) may be processed in the United States. This only concerns the transcript's text sent at the moment the summary is generated — never the audio, which is never sent to Anthropic.
Your private iCloud database is hosted by Apple under Apple's standard infrastructure for iCloud accounts; the same guarantees that protect the rest of your iCloud data (Notes, Photos, etc.) apply.
07Retention period
Your meetings (audio, transcript, summary) are kept for as long as you don't delete them in the app — there is no automatic deletion or retention limit imposed by Dictalia. Deleting a meeting from the history immediately deletes its local audio file and its associated iCloud record.
Turning off iCloud sync on a device, or signing out of your Apple ID, removes that device's access to the CloudKit database - management of that database then remains a matter of your iCloud account, as with any other app using iCloud.
Messages sent through the website's contact form are kept for as long as needed to reply to you, then deleted periodically.
08Security
Dictalia implements no proprietary encryption: it relies exclusively on the standard mechanisms provided by Apple's systems — local device storage encryption, Keychain for the API key, in-transit encryption (TLS) for network calls to Anthropic and for iCloud sync.
Having no server of our own that receives your meetings, there is no central database of user content to protect on our end — the exposure surface in the event of an incident is, by construction, your device alone and your Apple account.
09Your rights
For everything related to your meetings, you exercise your rights directly in the app: viewing, correcting (manually editing text, renaming speakers), and deleting each meeting are entirely yours to do, with no need to contact us.
For everything else — questions about this policy, a request related to the website's contact form, or any other request for access, rectification, erasure, restriction, or objection under GDPR — write to contact@dictalia.pro. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL: cnil.fr).
10The dictalia.pro website
The website sets no audience-measurement, advertising, or tracking cookies. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The contact form collects your name, email address, and the message you write, for the sole purpose of replying to you. This information is emailed to the publisher and shared with no one else.
11Children
Dictalia is not designed for, or aimed at, children. It does not knowingly collect data about minors.
12Changes to this policy
This page may change as the app evolves — for example if a new feature involving a new data recipient is added. The "last updated" date at the top of the page is authoritative; significant changes will be reflected here without special notice, as the app has no separate notification mechanism for this document.
